Abstract

The Study presents a review of a doctoral thesis entitled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence Techniques in Arabic Text Classification for Knowledge Discovery: An Evaluative Study”, by researcher Wissam Saeed Mohamed Ali, supervised by Prof. Ahmed Abada Al-Arabi, with the participation of Assist. Prof. Ahmed Hassan Abu Al-Atta, Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Arts, Tanta University (2025). The study provides a comprehensive theoretical framework on artificial intelligence techniques and text mining, types of text classification and their tools and algorithms. It highlights WEKA and Orange Data Mining systems as the most prominent open-source applications used in this field. The study reached several significant findings, most notably the superiority of deep learning techniques over traditional machine learning algorithms in terms of accuracy. It also established that classifying texts according to scientific departments is more accurate than classifying by specific specializations due to thematic overlap. The study concludes with a set of scientific and practical recommendations, including promoting the use of artificial intelligence techniques in library operations, intensifying Arabic studies in the field of text classification, and integrating artificial intelligence and text mining curricula into academic programs.
